Hughes was signed as a central midfielder

when Safs was injured and Jarrett hadn't settled. He was also signed as a 'talker' which every team needs and we didn't have. He could also, if needed, provide cover for Marney on the right. He doesn't suddenly become a first choice right winger just because there's no one else. After a season in the Premiership, instead of building we end up with the smallest squad in the Championship, and we've got found out, big time. Are we a smaller club than Crystal Palace? Are we poorer? So why have they got a squad of 31, of similar quality to ours, while we only have 23? That's nearly another whole team. Our ground may be miles better than theirs, but frankly, who cares? It's all down to priorities.
