I don't agree about IHT

IHT shouldn't be something that affects as many people as it does.

?325,000 was too low in the context of the UK property market.

IHT is something that should be paid by the wealthy, the landed gentry ideally, not people that nice houses. It doesn't take that much in the South East in particular, to go over the current threshold.
