It is not a recorder. It is a platform that allows you to install "Adds-On" or helper apps that assist in finding the latest tv box sets, movies and live footbal streams. The quality is excellent and the range of things you can watch is very wide (at the moment).

I personally use my KindleFire HD to watch as it has a HDMI output stright to the telly for HD quality but I have also used laptops, desktops and my Android phones with equally good results.

I believe the Fire Stick can be rooted to do the same job and possibly the Chromecast. Its does not work with Apple tablets/products due to rooting requirements I believe.

If you have a PC give it a go. You need the Genesis and Phoenix as addons. Google how to do the install for a step by step guide.
