techy help please

does anyone know how to turn up the default volume on a BT You View telly box?

on normal telly my volume of choice is number 8,but switch over to the BT box and I have to crank it up to over 30 to get any descent sound out of it.

Oh and I've tried sniffing the USB and even resorting to licking The HDMI port, all to no avail
