the problem is that the alternative is someone like Hooper

who is fairly clinical, but contributes almost nothing else to the team. I think the player that improves the team as a whole is more important than the one that has a better conversion rate, or better numbers next to his name.

We're not going to get someone who does loads of great running off the ball and works hard for the team, who is also really clinical. And if we did somehow, they'd be off to a top club within a year.
