Do we zonal mark?

I have found it a real paradox that, having a manager whose forte is his organisational skills, he has throughout his time with us failed to get the defence marking properly, whether from set pieces or from crosses in open play. One issue seems to be midfielders tracking runs into the box by opposition midfielders but more often it's simply that our centre backs of full backs are the wrong dude of their man or just not close enough to them. I can't decide if this is just a failing by the players in question or they are implementing some sort of zonal system which just does not work but it needs sorting quickly or it will see us relegated. I hate zonal marking systems so hope it's not what he is trying. It may though explain MartIn bizarrely running away from their only attacker in the build up to their fourth.
