This Ashton business

Has anyone else like me found themselves moving from the position of "we mustn't sell him" to now just thinking please just get on with it so we can get some quality players in and have a crack at the playoffs.

Yes Deano is a great player but at the moment the whoel episode is a massive distraction for everyone at the club. This coupled with the revelation that we have no other money to sign decent players has led to me coming round to the view that we are better off selling him asap and using the money to bring in 3 or 4 decent players than may make all the difference.

If we could get ?7.5m for Deano and use it to but Jerome, Halford and Idiakez (for the sake of argument) then I think we will actually end up with a stronger side and squad.

Interestingly I was told by 4 different people last night that Deano has gone and it will be announced today.

West Ham sits however seem to be suggesting that Delia has blocked the transfer whilst some of the other board members were ready to sell (although god knows where they got that from). If that were to be true it opens up all sorts of other questions!
