I've done Colchester to Norwich a few times so can recommend a good route.

I would suggest following the Dunwich Dynamo route out of London as far as Bildeston,Suffolk and then go: Stowmarket, Finningham, Botesdale, Kenninghall, Banham, Mulbarton, Norwich.

Good well surfaced B roads but relatively traffic free.
