Trouble is everyone knows exactly how rich you are and therefore exactly how much money you now have to spend. And lo and behold, prices rise...
I doubt clubs would be any worse off if the TV money had remained at far lower levels. They'd largely still be buying the same type and quality of players, just without the inflated transfer fees, agents fees, or player salaries. The PL may have missed out on some of the Big Name players who would have gone to where the money is, but I'm not sure most fans would really have missed them.
Sadly the genie is out of the bottle now though.
