Football League v Hammonds

For those of you who are interested the above ?150m claim against Hammonds is due to come to trial in February 2006. For those of you who dont know or cant remember this case has arisen following the ITV football deal collapsing following the liquidation of On Digital. The Football league are claiming that Edge Ellison ( now Hammonds ), their solicitors, failed to protect their interests in the contractual arrangements by , amongst other things, failing to procure a guarantee from Granada in respect of On Digital`s obligations ( On Digital being the trading medium set up by Granada ) to show Football League football on ITV.
It appears that Hammonds are seeking to pass the buck onto Stephen Townley a solicitor who was presumably handling the matter for Hammonds . He left Hammonds in 2004 to set up his own sports agency. His website does not mention his spot of bother in respect of this matter.

What all this means in real money terms to NCFC I do not know. Presumably if the Football League succeed then any net monies due will be divided amongst the Football league clubs pro rata to their entitlement under the Agreement.
