Just spoke to Neil Doncaster:
didnt say much that I didnt expect. Pointed out that we sold or released 10 players in the summer, where was the money? He said manager was entirely responsible for spending budget as he deemed fit (pissed it up the wall then). Said that the manager could choose a smaller squad of quality players or a larger squad with good size. Said I felt we had a small squad with not a lot of quality owing to Nigel's work in the transfer market.
Said the club would only disclose who had bid what for our players Feb onwards.
Money for the signing of Morrisson in summer would have been partfunded by another player sale.
We were in the running for Ward now at Palace but didnt want to match the fee.
We do try and sign players early in the summer like Sheffield United did.
We do have a right midfielder in Hughes up to manager if he sees this position as one that needs strengthening!!
Lack of supply not Dean's problem he missed stacks of chances earlier in the season.
If anybody signed we will be advised how signing was funded. Said it would be from player sales or other sources.
Pointed out that Robinson hadnt generated a transfer fee in god knows how long (if ever). He said "you pay for what is out there" and other clubs probably had to pay agents. I certainly dont think this will be a free signing.
