Anybody sell on ebay & use Royal Mail? be warned if so...

If you weren't aware, regardless of how much you 'insure' the item for with them (at a charge of course) - if the item is lost, they'll only refund to you the actual cost that you incurred to purchase / manufacture the item, NOT the price you sold it on ebay for.

I sold a football for ?100 and paid for compensation to that level along with Recorded Delivery. The t**ts lost it and when I went to claim for the ?100, they say they I have to produce an invoice showing how much I had acquired the ball for ( which was 60 euros ) as that it only amount they reimburse for.

I've picked up balls from car boots sales / jumble sales for a few quid in the past and sold them for hundreds at a later date. Obviously buying from them places you don't get a receipt, so god knows how much I would have got back if they'd lost one of those and I'd put a claim in.
