I've previously worked on gender diversity in STEMM
So I can't tell you how depressing it is to see a story like this get so much airtime. While the popular reaction has been very satisfying, there are so many positive stories around women in science, and so many more pressing, endemic issues. Yet of course the media only take note when a (male) berk like Hunt opens his gob. It frames the issue in the wrong way - we should be way past the stage where women have to explain that they don't spend their lab time batting their lashes and sobbing about some affair of the heart. He should just have been sacked and ignored, like he deserves.
