I visited my friend's dad last week, he's dying of liver cirrhosis

he's been drinking approximately 1.5 bottles of red a day for the last 7-8 years.

The change has been staggering. I could hardly recognise the frail skeleteon in the bed, unable to dress himself and without the strength to even undo his pyjamas and go for a piss alone.

Six months ago we were all drinking happily together. Now he has a maximum of 2 years to live, confined to bed.

My alcohol intake has been reduced considerably this week...
