but a lot of big corporations and organisations do make compensation pay-outs, just to avoid the hassle and potential negative publicity with going through the courts.
Also, perhaps they were concerned of the precedent if refereeing decisions started to be challenged in court.
By itself, I'm not sure is such a ridiculous thing for Fifa to have done. Obviously though, in the context of everything else going on, it looks decidedly dodgy.
