Does the Octave wotsit make the sound a bit uberclean whichever effects it's linked to?..

...as in a bit like that nu metal rawk sound which has all the fuzz but with all the dirt, overdrive and hiss taken out that someone like Steve Jones would champion? Does that make sense? I know what I mean...
