My windows 7 was running like a dog with no legs. It would freeze, high disk usage, high memory usage etc
i then noticed that Spotify was always on the task bar so i went into the config file and removed all the programs that Microsoft decided that should open and run at start up.

I removed most of these (ie ones that I didn't recognise) and now it's like having a new machine.

PS It's an HP G72 and five years old
