I don't know anything about iTunes
but have spent a lot of time converting music files. I use a prog called mp3 workshop which I like because it has absolutely no bells-and-whistles and is completely reliable in terms of splitting batches of files without f**king up the beginnings and ends. It's free, too, as I recall, tho' the version I have needed to be tweaked to work with XP.
Also, it's bloody quick. Just type MP3 Workshop into google or sommat.
