Here's a true Clarkson story (gospel)

A mate of mine used to teach history to Clarkson.
About 7 or 8 years ago Clarkson returned to the school to watch his daughter play netball for a different school who were visiting his alma mater.
Clarkson, lounging courtside on the bonnet of a massive Jaguar, saw my mate (1 year from retirement) and the conversation went something like this:

Clarkson: Bloody hell! Are you still here?

Mate: Yes. Still here.

Clarkson: Seems ages ago when you taught me history. In fact, I've got a bit of a confession to make about that.

Mate: Oh, yes. What's that?

Clarkson (who incidentally hails from Rotherham): Do you remember that project I did for you on the canals of South Yorkshire?

Mate: Yes

Clarkson (triumphantly): My Dad wrote every word.

Mate: Tell him it was s**t.
