Tech help

Help needed from techy types. I travel around the sarf( trucker) and usually tether my phone thru personnel hotspot to my laptop, I'm in Huntingdon this week, and can't get sky go to bloody work!!! Got a full signal on the phone and it's getting 3G although a little slow, would a single on the laptop from a different provider solve my probs, or is there any such thing as a signal booster for my phone?
