Asked the very same thing...

on me radio show there me old mate. Best suggestion was to get a dust sheet and lay it out flat beside the tree once you've taken the decs off. Put the tree on the sheet, wrap it up and tie at both ends to minimize needle/branch shedding.

Et voila...apparently.
