the policy being explored is to tie benefits to young people either being in work, in education, or in training. Now the jury is out with me as to whether enough credible opportunities will be created for this to actually work (I suspect not, and it'll go nowhere), but 'in principle' what is evil about expecting young people to be engaged in one of those three things? There will always be contingencies for true hardship cases,
The State is supposed to be a safety net, a helping hand. To a degree, yes we are all on our own.

If the Tories are evil for believing a similar thing, where does that leave Ed Miliband and his policy on cutting benefits for young people?
