techie/geek help needed please,

i want to get one of those 3G high speed internet card things so i can use internet wherever i take my laptop, i.e. Spain. The only one i have seen is in the Vodafone shop. You have to buy it and then go on a ?30 a month contract which is f**king expensive if you ask me, anyone know how i can do it cheaper. Is there other networks that i can get a card on and is there cheaper price plans about, thanks all
