"Companies only doing what the law permits"
Is that true though? Given the worst that can happen is they actually have to pay the tax, who can blame anyone for trying to avoid or evade it.
In fact the HMRC regularly agreed "sweetheart deals" with such corporations where the amount was reduced and interest not demanded.
Outside any moral sense of duty, why would a company not try to avoid or evade taxes?
