actually I'm now having some joy from a combination of Google drive and OCR to Word

for some reason Drive doesn't do OCR on every page (very annoying) and Free OCR to Word doesn't work as well but can do any individual image - ie. not PDFs.

Huge pain in the ring, but at least it's faster than typing out this whole document.
