Agreed but...........
some companies genuinely can't afford to pay more that the min wage and so the govt tops up the wages with working tax credits rather than those people be on the dole claiming benefits.
However, lots of companies could easily afford to pay a living wage but don't. Some of these companies also get sent unemployed people to work for free. That is taking the piddle out of taxpayers who are essentially subsidising these companies to ensure they make massive profits.
