It seems the government have actually known for a few years about the HSBC activities and had a copy of the disk of names.
It seems the list of HSBC tax dodgers includes some names of Tory donors and senior Tory politicians.
The former HSBC chairman was then made a Tory peer and trade advisor to Cameron.
The man who did the deal that gave HSBC immunity went from HMRC to work for HSBC.
Some senior HSBC officials have been making large donations to the Tories.
