Just the sign, or the name as well?

there's a Labour-in-Vain Hill near us, with possibly a similar heritage to it (ie, named for a pub with a similar sign). Should that be changed?

And I used to live near a Blackboy Hill (named after the servant of a merchant in the slave trade) - should that be changed?

I'd be inclined to agree that the old sign is inappropriate, but re-naming things that had a dodgy origin? Goes a bit far for me..

It's very reminiscent of the Victorians renaming all the 'Grope Lanes' to 'Love Lane'.
