Is it just me...
or do we seem over-keen/exuberant in our negotiations. Peter Thorne 'couldn't believe it when he got off the holiday plane and found Norwich wanted him; Andy Hughes, we now hear, makes a murmur of dissent and is instantly offered a better deal; sign Colin who we seem to have stumbled across on our pre-season tour - whoosh he's at Carrow; now we have Desmond who is pretty much told he's a permanent signing from the first day of a loan spell, which is normally used to judge quality. Sure there are other examples.
Conversely with existing players we don't negotiate at all - 'What Matty - you want two years?' ' So Paul, you've been best player for a few matches but don't get any ideas, no new contract yet'. 'Eddy, sorry but I reckon any three players are more deserving of a contract than you'
