It has issues, tbf.

The world depicted is feudal and incredibly patriarchal. Therefore women characters have few roles: mainly whores and (powerful) b***hes.

Everyone powerful in the world depicted is white. Everyone not white is subjugated in one way or another.

Those two things have turned many, many people off it, and I can see the objections, etc, etc. But, it is a fiction.

Then there is: explicit violence, sexual violence, and incredibly bad language. Again, those have turned people off.

Bottom line: the show is ***BRILLIANT***

It eclipses The West Wing in terms of political intrigue. The dialogue is as sharp as anything Sorkin wrote for The Newsroom. It's well paced, the way this fantasy world is constructed and realised is just so far above anything else on TV.

Try it. It's not for everyone, for sure, but there's lots to like.
