Just while you're still about...
Two things from earlier:
a) I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was in my mid- to late-30s. It was relatively easy, not general anaesthetic, and only caused a couple of hours of discomfort afterwards.
b) I too have had a cholecystectomy. I didn't get a morphine drip after the operation (that I recall, anyway), but after coming round from the general I felt weirdly euphoric. Such a strange feeling.
