...Also i don't see how giving him a new contract is a risk financially. As it stands next week McV is able to talk to other clubs and spend 3-4 months getting the best possible deal and we will get nothing.

Say after offering him a new contract he slumps back out of the team and doesn't perform. We will be able to sell him in the summer. I'm sure there would be a host of clubs after him for around 400k -600k. The likes of Burnley, Luton, plymouth, Stoke, Crewe and Derby would love a player of his potential and track record
