Well yes, that would be the way to say it. For a plane produced for 10 years & of which
c.20,000 planes were produced, according to Wiki, there were "......24 marks of Spitfire and many sub-variants." Some variants must have been produced in extremely small numbers.
The constant development and adaptations is rather astounding. Obviously this was essential, but doing this under the constraints of a war - what flipping hard work, expertise and bloody spirit.
