I agree with him
it gives Redmond 2 options, either he can cut in on the left foot, or build a move down the wing. neither of these plays to his strengths which is attacking a fullback down the wing, in which case you want the area as uncrowded as possible and the full back behind or possibly inside you as an option.
the full back should offer where he's needed. sometimes this will be a little run inside the winger, as Whittaker did more in the second half, sometimes offering an option behind, and sometimes bombing on the overlap...but this is using only when the winger has departed from the wing and the space has opened up.
in the second half Whittaker didn't overlap half as much and Redmond was much more effective down the right
