He was the Next Big Thing when we signed him

Leaving Dundee in the big move that was going to make his career, in the Scotland squad (Mind you, so were Malky and Gary Holt!) and....nothing.

I had thought that Ward was the stop-gap while Big Joe grows up and it would be Gallacher and Lewis jostling to take over if Greeno left. Instead, it looks like it's the old stager Ward who is filling a sort of Crichton role while Gallacher hasn't got it together. I kept an eye on the Wednesday forums when he was on loan and most of the comments were along the lines of "There must be something in his loan deal that means he has to play if fit, can't someone clobber him for us?". Dundee were even sniffing around him again last summer, but in the end plumped for someone else. All in all, a wasted 2 years for him. It'll be interesting to see if he achieves anywhere else.
