Justify it like this
Teams that are promoted have a better chance of staying up than relegated teams have of getting back up again. Anyway, players take one season at a time. He'll enjoy a salary of ?50k extra a week this season by moving and can consider options again at end of season. If he's had a good season in premier he will be closer to moving to a champions league club.
