I'm getting a new bike and have a q for roff bikefaces
I have a pretty good idea of what I want (Trek 7.2 FX) so I won't bore you by asking for what I should buy, I just want to know whether you think it's worth going to a bike shop instead of buying online? I've read numerous articles online preaching that bike shops offer better service, the bikes are better assembled etc., but the thing is, it seems these articles are mostly written by people who work *in* bike shops. I'm pretty confident in my technical abilities to check all the parts are well put together and I can ask several bikey friends for a second opinion, so I guess the big question is what the after-sale service is worth? Any thoughts?

- If you buy online it may well just come in a box and you have to fit it together yourself. (General Chat) - jAC, Aug 19, 12:36:23
