So, what I'm saying here is that ADSL has got a 0.5 meg "out" hose. And it can have a 10 Meg "in" hose (maybe even quicker these days, I dunno).
So a 0.5 "out" is more than enough to cope with all the acknowledgements that need to be sent for a 10 meg "in" hose running at full pelt. But if your "in" hose was 100 meg I doubt your "out" hose could cope. I'm saying that I don't know how big your "in" hose would have to be before it started to become limited by the puny capabilities of your "out" hose.
Bottom line, really, is go and talk to a statellite broadband firm. If they tell you you can have a 20 meg connection, or whatever, then that's much more important than me waffling about garden bloody hoses.
When I looked into satellite broadband I turned it down. It was a few years ago though, so the tech might have moved on since then. But then, it was quite pricey and the upstream was no better than I got at the time (which is a bit rubbish if you want to backup photos on the internet, or anything upload intensive like that).
