Problem is our "world class" players are not really
In the same league as the genuine superstars. Gerrard is a case in point. Yes he's good for a few spectacular goals and long range passes and you can't fault his attitude. He's a good player (albeit a bit past his best) but he can't control or dictate a game. Unfortunately we've never really had a top class playmaker to play alongside him. Focus in the future should be on getting a passer in that midfield and a decent centre back. We have enough attacking talent coming though to do ok in Russia if we can sort the rest of the team out.
Only really "world class" player we've had in recent years was Ashley Cole. Think for a while he was right up there with any left back in the world.

- The only depressing thing is with Balotelli and Suarez we know what quality they are. (NCFC) - Men without hats, Jun 20, 08:23:58
