I went, loved it..
Do a bit of camping around the area, and hike around the valley of the winds and get to Uluru for either sunrise or sunset. We spent about 3 days in the area total and it was fantastic.
Not much to do in the nearest town though (Alice springs) so don't plan anytime there..
