I driv through the peaks from Sheff to Macclesfield last weekend, and it
was absolutely *paved* with bikefaces. Could have practically walked to Chapel-on-le-Frith on the backs of cyclists hopping from one to the next.
I bet if you stuck to the Manchester Road (A57) leaving Sheff via Crosspool you'd have a great run out - that's eventually the Snake Pass. Or leave Sheff on the A625 Ecclesall road and head to Castleton via Hathersage and the Hope Valley. That route takes in Surprise View just before Hathersage, which to my mind is one of the most stunning views in the country.
