Hard work is paying off

Was 7.7 six weeks ago. Played in Irish U18 champs, not that well, missed cut. Then played really well at Strathmore in Scottish U16?s finished 40 of 100, should have been lower, around 20th, but dropped 4 shots in last three holes.

Had a second place in a County event and a third at Mill Green and won a decent girls event at Redbourne with a + 6 in really tough windy conditions. Prize was a ?50 top shop voucher!! She?s been unlucky in the way that the course CSS has been recalculated in a couple of events which cost Gemma at least 0.4 off handicap.

Played yesterday at Woodcote Park Surrey (RAC Club) in horrific conditions was +5 in the morning and +4 for 16 holes in the afternoon but two triples cost her winning the event. She was well ahead of other girls in her England peer group.

She?s now at 5.9, should be lower but has been playing matches for Stanmore and been at England Regional Squad training quite a bit which has meant less rounds played which would qualify for a reduction.

I think her real handicap should be around 4 now, but it?s good to have those two shots in hand in match-play!

She is @gemmalem_ if you want to see her bizarre tweets on golf + life

OTBC,
Tim
