NORWICH are hoping to appoint Malky Mackay as their new manager this week.
Fans? favourite Mackay, 42, who spent six years at the club as a player, has been offered the job to succeed Chris Hughton.

Caretaker-boss Neil Adams, who took charge for five games, was also in the frame to land the job and is set to be kept on in some capacity.

Mackay, who has finally settled his dispute with former club Cardiff, has received other offers since being fired by owner Vincent Tan.

West Brom are keen on Mackay and West Ham are also monitoring his situation.

But Norwich are confident they will get their man as they prepare for life in the Championship after suffering the bitter blow of relegation last season.

Former Watford boss Gianfranco Zola was interviewed, while Celtic manager Neil Lennon was wanted by some Carrow Road fans.

Norwich chairman Alan Bowkett also plans to appoint a technical director.
