They've been offered double what they're asking to drop the case and settle out of court.
To make it look like they were in the wrong and Tan acted with great courage and dignity all along. The man's a fantasist.
I bet if you read the statements closely there'll be no actual admission of any wrongdoing - it'll all have been vetted by both parties' lawyers to allow Tan to pay money to get what he wants.
Tan is a mad, very rich narcissist with a fantasy of being a public hero. He's been trying to buy that fantasy through the club.
