I must admit I don't like all this talk of legal challenges to avoid relegation
Clearly there are rules that have been breached and Sunderland could feasibly have received a points deduction, based on rulings in lower leagues. But I think it would go against the spirit of football to see a team relegated because of a non-malicious administrative mistake. If the roles were reversed and it was us who had just beat Man U and Chelsea to escape the drop, it would be unimaginable to think we could be penalised for such a minor mistake. So I really hope the club doesn't pursue this. Relegation is not pleasant, but it's what we deserve. A oversight in the paperwork doesn't change that.
