Dear Wrathipedia. Re uPVC doors
The top of my back door is catching on the metal bit on the frame. Guess One: the hinge is loose, so tighten everything up - but though the bottom and middle hinges are fine I can't actually tighten the top one because the socket bit just turns round and round in the hole - it's got worn out somehow and I can't move it (yes it is the right size socket bit, and it does work on the other two hinges).
Guess Two: shave a little bit off the door, about an inch or so in length, maybe shave 1/16" or even less off just enough to get it clear of the metal bit when the door closes and opens. This won't compromise security as the locking bit would still hold. The door is made of uPVC.
Would this work and what do I need to do it (will an ordinary rasp do the trick?). If not, is there something else I could try?
Thanks a gazill...brazilli....quagriall...stall....nine, anyway
