Remember it like it was yesterday
My first big away day. Went with my dad, aged 13.
The pen was heaving with a large number of brutally pissed men. At least the part I was in was. First time I saw men pissing on the terrace. Quite an eye opener.
As kick off approached the stewards kept collecting people from other parts of the ground and forcing them into the already crowded pen. My dad just took me right down the front by the side fence, from where we were safe and could barely see a thing.
We played totally s**t as I recall. A classic away day, should win game abject no show. Good preparation for what has, by and large, followed for the subsequent 30 years of my City following life.
