I wouldn't have thought we would be in a position to offer very much more ??? than he's on now. He gets Champ League level experience and exposure at Celtic, whilst remaining in the public eye as being manager of a big club and being able to swan around on Match of the Day etc.

Why trade that for a stint in the Championship with a relegated club, with the possibility that we might need a hefty squad rebuild and period of re-trenchment? If we languish in mid-table (or worse) for reasons beyond his control, it's his CV that gets punished.
