I've had numeroud passats in different guises, currently got the passat estate, "sport" trim (17" alloys, sat nav, sensors etc) and got the 2.0lt 140 TDi.

I wouldnt go for anything less than 140 BHP - A colleague has a similar one, but 1.6D 105 BHP - vastly under-powered.....

petrol? go for 1.8, diesel? go for 2.0 140 or 2.0 170.

Brilliant workhorse, quality german finish, chassis and size of an A6 (boot space is amazing) but more toys and comfort than a 3 series or A4 equiv.....

done 80,000 in mine now in 2.5 yrs and about to choose a new car........love the passat, but DO fancy a change as I spend a lot of time in it!
