Get a nifty fifty. 50mm f/1.8 prime lens.

About ?80 or something.

Best value upgrade you can get. You will love it.

I went for the slightly more expensive 50mm f/1.4, but the 1.8, is fab too. Crank the apature all the way open, and you'll be amazed at the results you can get in low light, without having to turn the ISO all the way up, or slowing the shutter down too much.
